Bounty Board 049: The Year So Far by Caleb Sawyer

BountyBoard.jpg

Eric has returned from vacation and the crew is whole once more! With E3 in the rearview and the slow season officially kicked off, the Bounty Board crew decided to take a step back and reflect on the good stuff they have encountered this year.

We talk about our top three games so far this year, why we like them, and why you should give them a shot. Then, for the fall, we give you our Most Anticipated, Sleeper Hit, and Surprise Hit (the one that we are surprised we are interested in).

We’ve got The Fall on the horizon folks. It’s time to dust off that collection of unfinished games and blow up the backlog. And while you are doing that, come hang out with ya boys!

Bounty Board 028: Hype Train Wreck by Caleb Sawyer

BountyBoardSMBL.jpg

The Hype Train gets us all eventually. We see a game that we didn’t know was coming out. The fresh trailer, the beautiful visuals, the new take on gameplay. In an instant we get drawn into an unshakeable feeling of expectation. Numerous games have exploited this expectation. Drawing fans in for pre-orders, purchases, and DLC down the road. But some games have fallen victim to its power. The first Watch Dogs, a delightfully mediocre game in the first wave of games released on next gen hardware, was panned by critics who seemed to be expecting the second coming.

This week on Bounty Board, the crew dives into whether or not the Hype Train is hurting the industry, forcing studios to come clean on their promises, or turning gamers away altogether. After all, when was the last time you let yourself get hyped for an upcoming title (Anthem and Division 2 for us, shhhh……)?

Welcome to 2019 lovely people! We had a really great 2018. Thank you so much for your support! But now it is time for 2019. We have a lot of big plans this year and we cant wait to get into the good stuff. To start the year out Bounty Board wants to welcome @SergeantSodium as our third co-host. Ryan is a longtime friend of EIC Caleb (@LubWub) and NerdyBitsTV and Bounty Board couldn’t be happier to have him as a permanent part of the team. Let’s get to the show!

This week on Bounty Board the crew tackles what is coming in 2019, and boy is there a lot! Will Anthem live up to its lofty expectations? Is the Division 2 going to learn from the mistakes that its predecessor saw in the days following launch? Will we get a new Watch Dogs? Splinter Cell? The possibilities are nearly endless, and that has the whole crew pumped for 2019!
